Portland 'gospel collective' Deeper Well remixes the Christian-music genre

Continuing my delve into Portland’s unexpected Christian music scene, I wrote for the Oregonian about Deeper Well, essentially an in-house record label at local hipster church Door of Hope (members of Blitzen Trapper, the Parson Red Heads, and Frank Ocean’s band are congregants), and its newest artist, talented retro-gospel singer Liz Vice. As with the story that got me interested in this subject, my profile of X-ian electropop quartet Kye Kye, this piece had me rethinking what it means to make music about spirituality.
