Musician Interview: the Thermals' Hutch Harris

Baby Thermals

The Thermals’ 2003 debut, More Parts per Million, was one of the first “indie” records I can remember listening to; certain lyrics—hardly art / hardly garbagewhile as enigmatic today as they were at age 15—no new deafness / no self-reference—have been intermittently running through my head, like mantras, for 10 years.

In that time, Portland’s favorite pop-punks have put out five more albums of catchy, energetic and defiant rock, including this month’s fine release, Desperate Ground. For this week's Willamette Week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Thermals singer/guitarist Hutch Harris about the band’s best moments of the past decade.
